For the first time ever, six of our most iconic VIVA GLAM shades together in a new Viva Glamorous Lip Palette, a sleek little compact with shades from shimmery pink beige to pearlized plum. Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
When the holiday collections started to pop up everywhere from different brands last year, this particular lip palette caught my eye, and I knew that I wanted it. I don’t own any MAC Viva Glam lipsticks so to have one palette, with all the six Viva Glam shades, for only $40, is such a steal! Each tube of MAC lipsticks costs $16 per 3 grams and this palette has 1.2 grams each. Fortunately, a dear friend got me this palette in the U.S. so I got it exactly for $40!
I have not worn each of them on a full day, so this post is more likely a swatch fest for you. There are reviews of each shade online if you want more information about them. So, let’s begin!
The palette is arranged from the left going down: Viva Glam I, II, and then III. On the right are: Viva Glam IV, V and VI. The formula is pretty consistent with those on the tubes. It smells a bit different but still sweet. I used a small brush to apply them on my lips. Not all shades show up as pigmented on my lips especially those on the right side of the palette but I don’t really mind because I can just mix them up. The palette is also lightweight so bringing it inside my makeup bag is not going to be a problem.
The first shade, Viva Glam I is described as “Intense brownish blue red” with a matte finish. The hype is true! It is one of my favorites out of all the shades. No need to layer on because it is very pigmented and this red shade is very flattering. It is also a popular shade to wear this year because of the 90’s trend.
Viva Glam II is a “muted pink beige” with a satin finish. Thankfully, this shade do not wash me out. It is perfect for smokey eyes and if I want to wear something light during the day.
Viva Glam III is a “muted brownish plum” with a matte finish. This is my most favorite from the bunch. I love wearing this kind of shades because it suits my skin tone well.
Viva Glam IV is “neutral pink with pearl” with a frost finish. I do not really go for frost lipsticks but this one is ok since it’s a pretty pink color.
Viva Glam V is a “midtone rose with gold pearls” with a lustre finish. It is the lightest shade of all on my lips. It works as an everyday lip shade but I just don’t like the pearls clinging on the dry flakes of my lips.
Last, but not the least is the Viva Glam VI! It is a “terracotta plum with pearl” with a lustre finish. The pearls are less noticeable on this shade. I like it a tad bit more than Viva Glam IV because I love plum shades!
So those are all the Viva Glam lipsticks on this palette. I also reviewed my MAC Viva Glam Rihanna lipstick, if you’re interested to see that. This palette is still available from the MAC Website. I will check if it is still available at SM North MAC booth because the last time I saw it was December. All of these shades are permanent so if you like to buy just a few shades, you can.
If I will repurchase anything, it will be Viva Glam I and III. I love the matte finishes and the colors are really right up my alley.
Hope you enjoyed reading and have a great week!
