theBalm DownBoy Shadow/Blush Swatches and Review!

IMG_4940

I have a few items from theBalm in my collection that I haven’t shared yet so I thought it’s the perfect time to review them on the blog. theBalm is famous for their TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter, one of the best highlighters on the market and the Betty-Lou Manizer Bronzer. These two products made me buy more of their products because I am very happy with the quality I get from the brand.

Before we start, let us know more about the company, and what it stands for.

THEBALM

With a “beauty in five minutes” philosophy, theBalm’s simple multi-use products have become its calling card, offering quick fixes and solutions for a range of beauty wants and needs. What began as mixing makeup in a kitchen with the help of how-to books has grown into a brand of wearable colours, anti-ageing formulas, finely milled pigments and fabulous scents.

Let us start our reviews with the DownBoy Shadow/Blush

What it is:

Show the world your perky and confident self with DownBoy, theBalm’s versatile blush/shadow powder. With its soft pink shade and smooth texture, you can pull off that coy, girl-next-door vibe, or you may add a little more to let that rosy colour pop in whatever look you put on. It proves to enhance your appearance by adding a subtle glimmer on your face without flashing too much. DownBoy allows you to create multiple looks in any season; your only limit is your imagination.

What it does:
Its soft, finely milled texture makes it easy to apply and blend on the skin. Sharp pigment allows for maximum staying power without regular touch-ups. Light-reflecting properties enhance overall appearance with a subtle glow.

Price

This costs 940 pesos at BeautyMNL / 1,190 pesos at Sephora PH (out of stock currently) but you can also buy at Beauty Bar PH for 925 pesos. This contains 9.9 grams.

Packaging

It is in a lightweight but sturdy cardboard packaging. It is easy to carry or travel with. It has a magnetic closure so the product won’t get damaged at all. I did not throw away the outside box that hugs the main product so that it won’t get dirty or even accidentally open inside my bag.

Quality

DownBoy is a matte baby pink shadow/blush. Though it is a cool tone blush, my cheeks look fresh and youthful whenever I wear this. The blush kicks off a bit of powder when I use a brush but it applies smoothly and evenly on my cheeks. It does not sit on top of my cheeks but instead melts onto the skin. This blush is rich in pigment so a little goes a long way! It’s best to build up the blush slowly!

I haven’t tried it on my eyelids as eyeshadows yet because the color is not something I want for everyday wear but, I am pretty sure that it will still look nice and blended once done.

Scent

No scent at all!

Longevity

This blush is long-lasting. I never have to retouch when I wear this. This can last up to 8 to 9 hours without fading. The quality is really incredible and it is not even that expensive, in my opinion.

Worth the Money?

YES! If you want a long-lasting, creamy, and natural-looking flush, you should try theBalm Downboy blush! A pan will last you a while, even a lifetime because it has a substantial amount of product and a little goes a long way.
