My Thoughts about Makeup School

Reading blogs has been a routine of mine whenever I browse the internet. I always open my Bloglovinโ€™ account to read all my favorite blogs, and I even categorized them by country so that I will be able to read all the local blogs first. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Some time ago, I read Donnarenceโ€™sย blogย about makeup school. I thought of enrolling myself in it, too. I am still on the fence because I am not sure what comes next after that. I do not have a lot of experiences doing other peopleโ€™s makeup except for my sisters and mom, and I’ve only attended one makeup workshop ever since. I only read blogs, and learn from YouTube about makeup application, and the likes. I am scared that it will not be put to good use.ย Yeah, yeah, being a negative thinker helps,Juvy!

I have been working for almost eight years since I graduated, and I still feel that I am not fulfilled or happy about what I am doing. I am happy that my job pays the bills, and I am able to buy makeup what I want, but there is still something missing.

Me, pretending to be a MUA! :D
Me, pretending to be a MUA! ๐Ÿ˜€

Makeup has been my stress reliever for quite a while now, and I never thought I will put up my own blog, too. Do I see myself being a professional makeup artist? Thatโ€™s a scary thought, but what if, it is my destiny? Haha!

Have you thought about enrolling in a makeup school? Did you? Share!

Only invest in going to a makeup school if you’re seriously thinking of turning makeup artistry into a career. Otherwise, it will be a waste of money.
This is coming from my own experience ๐Ÿ™‚
I went to La Salle College International for my makeup school, and invested a good sum of money to create a professional makeup kit. After a few months, I realized being a makeup artist isn’t for me.
It’s actually not that easy to be a makeup artist, as you need to look for clients, have odd working hours, travel distances (considering the traffic in Manila) bringing along bulky items and stuff.
You’ll also need to invest money in getting an assistant and also someone to do hair for your clients.
Also, earlier in your career, you’ll need to invest a lot of time (and maybe money) to create your portfolio so that you can actually get hired.
But if makeup is really your passion, then those shouldn’t be a problem ๐Ÿ™‚
For me, makeup is just a personal hobby and the only person I like to beautify is myself, haha! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Personally, I find it harder to put makeup on other people, too. Especially curling eyelashes. I HATE curling eyelashes of other people as I’m afraid to hurt them ๐Ÿ˜›
If you DO intend to go to makeup school, check out Maquillage Professional http://www.mpschool.com.ph ๐Ÿ™‚ If I would choose to go to a makeup school again, I’d go here.

Thank you, Lia! I also read about Maquillage. Ok sana kung merong work after magaral noh? Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate it!

I agree with Lia ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, I don’t see myself as an actual professional makeup artist in the long run. Kaya no-no sa makeup school. Hahahaha! And besides, not really not that into putting makeup on other people as well. Okay lang pag really close friends and relatives kasi you know, kebs lang na magkamali ako at one point. Pero pag ibang tao na, nakakahiya naman. Haha!

Parang masaya lang na may added skills, and who knows baka nga pwede pang-sideline. Hihi. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve actually considered going to a makeup school before too, and i still do. But not to become a MUA, hihi. Just for fun and self-fulfilment, if you know what i mean. You can also find new friends there too, and some techniques are only taught in schools so im sure you’ll find something useful there. ๐Ÿ™‚
I only want to put makeup on my face too, and sometimes my sister.
If you can afford the time and the money why not! It will definitely take your ‘pagkatao’ to a higher level. If you get what i mean. ๐Ÿ˜€

New friends and techniques. TAMA! I want all of those. Haha! ๐Ÿ™‚
I might give it a shot someday.
